Who We Are
& what we can do for you
We are HMG Financial Services, a small firm of mortgage brokers with a big reputation for satisfying the requirements of our clients. We were established in 2001 and have grown from a one man band to our current size thanks to our loyal customer base who regularly pass our details to friends and acquaintances. We have a vast knowledge of the mortgage and protection market and are able to source mortgages from most lenders and insurance products from a wide variety of companies.
We do not guarantee to get a mortgage for everyone we see but if there is a lender who can provide a mortgage for your circumstances, we will find them.
We have clients all over Scotland, mainly Ayrshire, Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Dumfries and Galloway but a few further afield as well. We also have clients in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
We are a team of experienced advisers who will help you every step of the way from finding a property, to obtaining mortgage funds, to protecting your home & family, to moving in. We can meet you at your home or place of work or you can come to us, whatever is best for you and at a time that suits. We are flexible and can accommodate most requests.
How do we get paid?
& your options
We offer the following two methods of payment:
- We charge a fee of up to £250 and we may also receive a fee from the lender.
- We will receive no fee from the lender and will charge you a fixed hourly rate.
We discuss both options with you at the outset and you are free to choose the method that suits you best. No payment to us is due until the mortgage is offered and due to complete. Where we are unable to secure a mortgage for you no fee is charged. Payment can be made by BACS payment, cheque or cash.
Meet The Team!

Harry McGinn
I’m Harry and I set up HMG Financial Services on the28th of May 2001, which was also my 40th birthday, so I took the day off.
I’ve been in financial services since 1987 and have specialised in mortgages for the last 20 years or so. I took the decision to concentrate on mortgages because I get a buzz from enabling people to purchase their new home, or help them save money on their existing mortgage, however there are so many other parts to the job that are also enjoyable.
As you can see from my photo I‘m not a typical suited and booted financial services professional, however don’t be fooled by the look as I am as committed and knowledgeable as any of the pin stripe brigade.

Leann Gregory
I‘ve been working for HMG Financial Services since 2013 (and previously worked for them between 2007 - 2009) having taken time out (somewhere in-between) to have my family. My current job role is ’Operations Manager‘, previously being their ’Compliance Officer‘ - I aid the advisers in whatever way I can, looking at processes and providing training etc. I trained in ’Office and Information Management‘ however I ended up working in senior Management in the retail industry prior to working for HMG. I work part-time, as my ’full time‘ job is still that of ’mummy‘ to Daniel (6) and Isla (4)............. home life is full of mischief and fun, combined with complete chaos - our family ’motto’ being "work hard, have fun, and be nice to everyone"

David Reid
I’ve been in financial services since early 1992 , with Liverpool Victoria (twice), Prudential, Co-Operative Insurance, among others, as a home service agent, sales manager and sales consultant. I’ve been with HMG Financial Services since 2006. My qualifications include CMap Bridge and FPC 1, 2 and 3.
Away from work , I love spending time with my grandchildren of which there are now 8 !!!!!, Rory being the latest addition earlier this year. I also like to help raise money for deserving causes through charity concerts where I have been known to appear in tribute to Sir Elton John.
A lot of my customers are not aware that was on National Television as a contestant on Countdown on Channel 4, approx 20 years ago, winning 2 games and unfortunately losing my 3rd game.

Iain Thomson
I have been in Financial Services for 26 years specialising in the mortgage and protection market for 18 of those years. My aim has been to find solutions in the modern minefield of 21st Century living for those clients whether buying for the first time, moving home, searching for a new deal or if you have entered into the investment market.
The humps and hollows that are laid in front of clients nowadays can be mind-boggling at times and although the internet is a wonderful tool it doesn’t tell you everything you need to know for the next step. At HMG Financial Services we all strive to provide professional services but in a relaxed manner that can make our clients life a lot easier while they can get on with the hustle and bustle of the modern working world.

Robert Gray
Hi, I’m Robert and I’m married to Joyce and have two grown-up sons, Peter and Tom. I’m originally from Northern Ireland and from an agricultural background. This has given me a “can do” attitude and the ability to “think outside the box” for the most complicated commercial cases and applicants with less than perfect credit. I have all the Financial Planning Certificates and Mortgage Qualifications and have been in financial services since 1999. These days I specialise in all types of mortgages and all types of life insurances and income protection insurances.
When I’m not dealing with client requirements, I help run youth clubs at my local church, and sit on the local Academy’s parent council. My spare time is spent with my family and our new rough collie pup, Lacey.

Lyndsey Lang
Hey, I’m Lyndsey, I started in April 2016 as the Admin Assistant at HMG. I came here from an EAC Programme called Routes to Recruitment, where I successfully completed an NPA in Administration. I am now the B&C Coordinator for HMG and I am currently working towards my Certificate in Insurance. I am the youngest member of staff in the office and I like to bring some fun to the workplace, I enjoy getting the workplace involved in charity events.
Outside of work, I am a busy Mum and like all parents, my days are normally pretty hectic with school runs, housework, and cooking. I would like to say I enjoy doing this and that but my ideal night off from work and the kids is cuddled up in bed with my cats watching TV. (Crazy cat lady and proud.)

Ian Robertson
I’m Ian and I work part-time as an Admin Assistant with HMG. I took up this role in May 2017. I have a background in retail and administration. My role in HMG involves providing support to the advisers and ensuring the smooth running of the admin systems in the office. My day-to-day work involves filing; answering the telephone; inputting data to the information management system and providing information to the advisers.
When I’m not at work I enjoy computer gaming, going to the cinema and spending time with family.

Kate Lindsay
I’m Kate and I’ve been with HMG since 2001 and my role as Business Support Officer involves providing strategic and business support to Harry where required. I am involved in the day to day running of the business and also support Harry to drive the company forward. My role also involves developing policies and procedures that ensures quality of service is always at the forefront of everything we do.
Outside of work I spend most of my spare time with family which keeps me busy. I also practice mindfulness and deliver 8-week mindfulness courses for Ayrshire Cancer Support and other community-based organisations.
